Michael P. Kerner is certified by the State Bar of California as a specialist in estate planning, trust, and probate law. He joined Leland, Parachini in 2011 and his practice focuses on sophisticated estate planning, business succession planning, organizing and advising partnerships, limited liability companies, and corporations, business tax counseling, tax-deferred exchanges, and tax-related real property transactions. He is a frequent speaker and lecturer on estate planning and tax-related topics. He received his B.A. degree from Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio, in 1976, and his J.D. degree from Lewis & Clark Law School in 1979, where he was associate editor of the law review. He received his LL.M. degree in taxation with honors from Golden Gate University in 1995. Before joining the Firm, Michael was a managing shareholder of Janin, Morgan & Brenner, P.C. in San Francisco and Oakland, California.

Michael is a member of the Bar Association of San Francisco, the Alameda County Bar Association, the Solano County Bar Association, the San Francisco Estate Planning Council, and the East Bay Estate Planning Council. He is presently the chair of the Trusts and Estates Executive Committee of the Alameda County Bar Association. He has achieved the highest AV® rating from Martindale-Hubbell® Peer Review Ratings and has been designated as a Northern California Super Lawyer by Law & Politics and San Francisco Magazine. Michael provides pro bono estate planning services and is an attorney mentor for the Volunteer Legal Services Program of the Alameda County Bar Association.
