Andrew R. Cohen specializes in real estate law as well as general business matters. His practice focuses on commercial real estate acquisitions, dispositions, development, leasing, and finance. He represents developers, property owners, borrowers, brokers, landlords, tenants, and others involved in complex real estate transactions throughout the United States. Andy’s lease practice includes a variety of contexts including retail, office, industrial and ground leases. He has also developed a niche representing both tenants and landlords in connection with restaurant leases and related operational issues. His practice also encompasses business transactional matters, including entity formations, negotiation and interpretation of commercial contracts, business purchase and sale agreements, and representation of shelter operators participating in the “maquiladoro” program in Mexico.
Andy is a member of the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of California, the Bar Association of San Francisco and the Alameda County Bar Association. He earned his B.A. degree from Indiana University in 1984 and his J.D. degree from the University of San Francisco in 1987. Before joining the Firm, Andy was a shareholder of Janin, Morgan & Brenner, P.C. in San Francisco and Oakland, California, where he practiced for nearly twenty-five years.
