Colby Freeman is a partner in the firm’s Family Law Department. He is certified by the State Bar of California Board of Legal Specialization as a Family Law Specialist and has an advanced legal degree in Taxation (LL.M.). Colby’s practice includes all areas of family law with an emphasis on complex financial issues in family law including, identifying, characterizing and valuing ownership in businesses and entities, cash flow availability, separate property tracing, and divorce taxation issues.
Colby graduated from the University of California, Berkeley (2006) and the University of San Francisco School of Law (2009). While in law school Colby was the Co-Chair of the Public Interest Law Foundation, received an award for Best Oral Argument , USF Moot Court, was a top performer in the USF Intensive Advocacy Program and was selected as the Student Speaker at the 2009 USF School of Law Graduation Ceremony. During his legal career, Colby has presented accredited Continuing Legal Education programs for family law and bankruptcy attorneys on the subjects of bankruptcy, tax, business entities, income available for support, restricted stock units and stock options.
