Banking & Finance
LPS has a long history of representing banks and other financial institutions in all aspects of business and litigation. Our attorneys advised banks through their entire life cycle from initial formation to sale, and work closely with bank management to offer practical advice based on many years of hands-on experience.
Examples of the kinds of services our Banking and Finance group can provide follow:
- Corporate and regulatory services such as applications and other matters before California’s Division of Financial Institutions, the FDIC, the Federal Reserve Board, and the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency;
- Litigation services of all types by and against our clients in federal, state and bankruptcy courts on issues such as loan work-outs, secured transactions, foreclosures, bankruptcies, and pre-judgment remedies such as receiverships, injunctions, temporary protective orders and writs of attachment and possession.
- Representation on a variety of other matters such as commercial and real estate financing, secured transactions, acquisition financing, asset-based lending, loan participations and other credit transactions.
- General counsel services for a number of community banks throughout the state.
Notably, LPS’ veteran banking lawyer, Donald G. Parachini, has taught a Course in “Regulation of Financial Institutions” at the University of San Francisco, School of Law.
Because our banking and finance practice can draw upon a range of legal experience and skills within the firm, major financial institutions have depended on us over the years to handle their legal work in the Bay Area.
