Brian C. Pedersen specializes in real estate transactions as well as general business matters. His practice focuses primarily on commercial real estate , acquisitions, dispositions, financing, leasing, workouts and development. He represents property owners, borrowers, brokers, developers, and others involved in complex real estate transactions throughout the United States. Brian’s transactional practice includes multi-family, manufactured housing communities, self-storage facilities, retail, office, industrial and ground leases. His practice also encompasses business transactional matters, including entity formation and governance, negotiation and interpretation of commercial contracts, and workouts of distressed properties and troubled loans.
Brian also has a civil litigation practice that emphasizes real estate sales and nondisclosure, partnership disputes, borrower/lender disputes including foreclosure and personal guarantees, brokerage disputes, insurance coverage, and defective construction. Brian’s litigation background helps his transactional clients to identify, avoid and promptly address risks and disputes that arise before and after closing, and to reposition or refinance distressed properties.
Brian is a member of the Real Property Law Section of the State Bar of California, the Bar Associations of San Francisco and the Marin County Bar Association, where he was Chair of the Real Estate Section from 2013-2017. Brian has extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution, as a mediator, and serves as a settlement conference panelist for the Marin County Superior Court.
Brian earned his B.A. degree from University of California San Diego in 1990 and his J.D. degree from the University of California Hastings College of Law in 1993. Before joining the Firm, Brian was a Managing Partner of Flynn Riley Bailey & Pasek in San Rafael, California, where he practiced for nearly seventeen years, and was an associate at Barger & Wolen, LLP in San Francisco for seven years.
